“Albarello with landscape and figures”
The albarello (or alberello) is the oldest type of pharmacy jar, designed to contain dense, viscous substances.
This piece, made to order, depicts two shepherds in the typical attire of Abruzzese country folks from the early 1900s. In the decoration of traditional-style majolica I refer to the eighteenth-century school of Castelli d’Abruzzo; however, I always try to interpret it based on my sensitivity.
